Our goal for today was to finish the painting upstairs. We certainly had enough time, and manpower, but sadly, we were lacking in the other necessary component: Paint. My potential career as a paint estimator is officially over. We bought two gallons for the master bedroom and bath and we didn’t even have enough for the first coat. We are about one wall and one closet short. Darn it! I do really like the color, though and I think it will look sharp with our grey carpeting.

After that disappointment, Dad and I got to work re-trimming the hallway and guest bedroom, as well as rolling the closet, hallway and guest bedroom with the second coat of abalone (or albatross, or albacore… whatever we felt like calling it at that minute.) We got all of that done, so the small amount of first coat and second coat in the master suite are all that we need to do and that should go pretty quickly.

Elsewhere, Josh and Keenan (Eric’s crew) were hard at work up in the attic working on the ductwork. Josh was a little shy for the photo, so I took a picture of him when he couldn’t possibly get away (apologies to OSHA for the awesome scaffolding!)

Downstairs, Donnie was putting the last coat of mud on the family room. It looks like they will sand and maybe prime that room on Monday while the flooring guys are upstairs doing the vinyl floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. The appliances also get delivered Monday between 8 and 12. Monday will be another active day with multiple crews. In the meantime there plenty of odds and ends to get us through the weekend.

PS: Two things I forgot from yesterday. 1. Yet ANOTHER Penelec Employee showed up. His sole job was to place a sticker on the transformer beside the house. That was it. Just a sticker. Ridiculous. 2. We have our request in to our telephone company move our phone line and DSL. Our local phone rep is the GREATEST and while the request isn’t scheduled until the 21st, they started work today RUNNING A NEW PHONE LINE from a few miles down the road. Why, you ask, did we need a whole new line on the poles? Well because Cheryl is amazing and she knows that Eric and I are power users when it comes to bandwidth, and she knew that the closest existing line to our house cannot sustain very high speeds, so she got us a new line. Of course there are probably other reasons for this too, but how awesome is that?!?

5 hours of work, and we have 4 new appliances, thus bringing our kitchen remodel to a close. In this pic, you see the new Sharp microwave, the new Kitchen Aid double convection oven, and the new Kenmore refrigerator. The fourth new addition is a stainless Kenmore dishwasher that matches the fridge.

It's like having a brand new house almost!
